Advice To Kids from Bill Gates

舊文章重貼，每一句都頗有意境。

這是個人見解後的翻譯，不過看英文的話，有比較大的思考空間。

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it.
生活是不公平的 - 要試著去習慣它

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
這世界將不在意你的自尊，只指望你對自己認為很好的時候要有所成就。

Rule 3: You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
直到你將下述兩樣都賺得，不然剛從中學畢業是不會有一年四萬美金的薪水，也不會是擁有裝有車用行動電話的車子的副總。

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He won't have tenure.
如果你認為老師很嚴厲的話，等到有了老闆再這樣想，老闆是沒有任期限制的。

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping -- they called it opportunity.
煎漢堡的工作並不會貶低你的尊嚴，你的祖父母們對這樣的工作有另一種解釋，他們稱之為機會。

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
如果你陷入因境，那不是你父母的錯，不要因為自己的錯而發牢騷，要從錯中學習。

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
在你出生前，你的父母並不會像現在這麼乏味。他們會變成這樣是因為忙著幫你付帳單，清洗你的衣物及傾聽你訴說自己有多酷。所以在你想要從父母那一代清除寄生蟲來拯救雨林之前，先清清在你衣櫥裡的蝨子吧！

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
你的學校可能廢除輸贏制度，但是生活裡卻不同。在某些學校也廢除不及格的標準，只要你有追求正確答案的精神，學校一樣會給你無限制的次數。這和現實生活裡的每一件事無任何相似之處。

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
在生命裡並沒有分上下學期。你不會有暑假，也沒有幾個雇主會有興趣幫助你找到自我。自己得找時間來做。

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
電視並不是現實生活。 在現實生活中，實際上人們必須離開咖啡館並且去工作。

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
對你所討厭的人好一點。總有一天你會有機會為這種人工作。
